Daysdale culvert
Client: Federation Council
The project comprised the construction of a reinforced concrete culvert structure and overlying pavement in line with GHD engineering plans and Federation Council requirements. Works included the supply and installation of a 50 m x 10 m reinforced base slab, placement of 104 council-supplied multi-cell culvert crown units, and the construction of in-situ wingwalls and aprons. Mass concrete was placed between the crown units and the reinforced road slab, which also incorporated edge beams, posts, and guard railing. The overlying reinforced concrete pavement was built with a designed crossfall and superelevation to enable effective drainage, and guardrails were installed to protect the culvert section while tying the pavement into the existing road formation.
Scope Exclusions and Project Management
Exclusions from the scope included the supply and delivery of box culverts, guardrail beyond culvert limits, adjoining earthworks, granular bedding for base and apron slabs, riprap to inlets and outlets, and final bitumen surfacing. Construction activities were underpinned by comprehensive project management deliverables, including a detailed Gantt chart construction program, environmental management controls, Work Health & Safety systems, and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance and successful project delivery.
